81.Tuesday :Temptation of desire : leaven of the Pharisees : Law of Balance.

James 1: 13 No one experiencing temptation should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and he himself tempts no one  Rather, each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire conceives and brings forth sin, and when sin reaches maturity it gives birth to death.

Mark 8:15 He enjoined them, “Watch out, guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” When he became aware of this he said to them, “Why do you conclude that it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Are your hearts hardened?

The Catechism teaches that deliberate hatred is contrary to charity and destroys our spiritual life.

Once a Catholic life is Christ-centered, hate can be triggered by hardened hearts around us, like the leaven of Herod and the Pharisees. If we connect with that same spirit, it can affect our relations, make us bitter, kill the leaven of empathy in us, and cause us to fall into the trap of hate or face the consequences of hate.

Once  a catholic life is Christ centered  tension of hate or selfish around us can entangled us to reduce and balance the tension as per Law of Balance.

Here two different culture Jesus is addressing:

Faith based self-righteous Hypocrisy of Pharisees : to hide an internally aligned worldly interests, they fool themselves and others using faith based on outward appearance, rigorous rule-keeping, and judgment of others. They are the slaves and victims  of ego-centric spirituality. They are trapped in a cycle of imaginary sanctity and substituted the true essence of faith (love, justice, mercy) with a performance. It is a self-righteous attitude that often opposes true, grace-filled love.

The Leaven of Herod (Worldliness/Immorality): This represents a desire for power, pleasure, and comfort, and a fear of losing influence, which causes a person to oppose God's kingdom

Leaven of the sadducees : refers to their rationalistic, skeptical, and worldly doctrine, which denied the supernatural, resurrection, and afterlife.
