Thursday after Epiphany
Baptism anoints a person into Christ's call
Luke 4:18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, 19 and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” . 21“Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”.
Sanctifying Grace
During Catholic Baptism, sanctifying grace, the theological virtues (faith, hope, charity), and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are infused into the soul, becoming seeds for growth through cooperation with grace.
A Catholic must realize the call of baptism and respond by living a fundamental Catholic life and pursuing a process of self-purification.
Luke 4:19 "to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” means proclaiming God's time of grace, favor, and redemption by a disciple. A state where Sanctifying Grace can execute full authority on a disciple.
Rosary is the effective tool to complement the works of Sanctifying Grace.
Once self-purification is satisfied, he will be chosen as disciple for the reign of Sanctifying Grace for purgation. To be begotten by God, a Catholic must pursue the process of purgation, which leads to union with Christ. Only then can he truly say, 'I love God.'
1 John 4:19– 20 "If anyone says, 'I love God,' but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen."
1 John 5:4a "for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world." This describes a state where a Catholic reached union with Christ.
