Monday- 2nd week - Ordinary Time After Christmas :

Even though you seemed insignificant in your own eyes and to others, the LORD appointed you as king. This is the power of Catholic Baptism.

1 Samuel 15:17 Samuel said to Saul : “Though little in your own eyes, are you not chief of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king of Israel.

Humans are inherently subject to societal pressures, an invisible force shaping behaviors, beliefs, and identity through norms and expectations from family, peers, and culture.

Through Baptism, all the faithful are incorporated into Christ and share in his three-fold mission: priestly, prophetic, and kingly.

The more one grows in Jesus, the more active and visible this becomes.

Genesis 1:26-28, states that God created humans in His image to rule over the earth and its creatures. Humanity lost its original authority due to Original Sin; through Christ's redemption and baptism, a Catholic gains access to their original creation, purpose, and the power of the Son of God.

Through the kingly role of Catholic baptism, individuals are granted the authority to rule over sin and worldly temptations, empowering them to control their imagination, thoughts, and actions to live a holy and just life.

Through this, he gains power to control his surroundings. It grants authority to the decision-making process. Since this person is executing authority, he will not act according to society's notions. He is not bound by fear, customs, or practices; he is the light of the world, possessing the power to change darkness in society. It grants authority to use talents, time, and opportunities on a par with grace.

Exercising this authority regularly in every situation is how we empower it. While executing this, we learn to follow the guidance of the underlying grace that provides it.

A parent who shares in the Kingly mission through their baptism acquires genuine parental authority. This guidance establishes a foundation of trust, security, and effective modeling that supports healthy child development and a robust parent-child relationship.

Worldly temptations can undermine this authority; one needs to be vigilant.

Realization and experience of anointing helps to enjoy Lord's presence:

Mark 2:19 Jesus answered them,  As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.  22 New wine is poured into fresh wineskins.

In the Lord's presence, a joy like a wedding feast is evident; the world, however, may be bound by customs and traditions like an old, worn cloth. A person in the Lord's presence finds a perpetually renewed experience—like new wine in fresh wineskins.

Saul Acting before God's time. Any action before Gods time: Impatience Over Obedience, an act of distrust.

Samuel 15: 22 Obedience is better than sacrifice,

Samuel 15: 23 For a sin of divination is rebellion,  and arrogance, the crime of idolatry.

Rebellion and witchcraft are forms of spiritual opposition, where one turns away from God's revealed will to follow their own path or seek answers elsewhere.

Arrogance is the crime of idolatry. Both involve putting one's own will, wisdom, or self above God's, essentially making oneself a god or seeking guidance from false sources instead of the divine.

Divination is the practice of  seeking knowledge (future, hidden) using tools like tarot or astrology, while witchcraft is the active practice of causing change through supernatural means (spells, potions, influencing will);

Without waiting for Samuel Saul sacrificed the burnt offering at Gilgal

1 Samuel 13 Now Jonathan struck the Philistine. 5The Philistines also assembled for battle against Israel. 7 Saul, held out in Gilgal, 7Saul waited seven days, until the appointed time Samuel had set, but Samuel did not come, and the army deserted Saul. 9.without waiting for Samuel Saul sacrificed the burnt offering.
13 Samuel said  “You have acted foolishly! Had you kept the command the LORD would now establish your kingship in Israel forever; but now your kingship shall not endure.

1 Samuel 13 .19 Not a single smith was to be found anywhere in Israel. therefore, had to go down to the Philistines to sharpen their plowshares, mattocks, axes, and sickles.

Saul's disobedience led to a rash oath : impeded victory, spiritual guilt for his people (eating blood with meat), erosion of his leadership, divine silence, and a potential death sentence for his son Jonathan.
